Individual has the responsibility to work in the laboratory to help carry out specific R&D projects. Individual will work with a Sr. Scientist or a Scientist II to carry out the required lab work, help prepare reports on results, maintain laboratory notebooks according to GLPs and help prepare necessary documents for product transfer to manufacturing. This is primarily a hands-on laboratory position. Some of the work will be somewhat repetitive.
Doing laboratory experiments, under the direction of a Scientist II or Sr. Scientist, to develop new and improved products.
Occasionally help plan experiments.
Execute the actual lab procedures as directed.
Record results in laboratory notebooks as per GLP requirements.
Help generate and transfer relevant documentation to manufacturing for product transfer.
Work with other Scientists, Associate Scientists, and other technical people assigned to the R&D section.
Work as part of interdepartmental project teams with other OTI personnel.
Individual should have at least some knowledge of, and experience with, many common laboratory tools, instruments and procedures such as pipetting, using a balance, centrifuge and reagents. The specifics will vary by discipline. A working knowledge of laboratory procedures and lab safety is required.
Bachelors Degree in a relevant science such as Chemistry or Biology.
2 plus years of R&D experience and a demonstrated ability may substitute for the degree.
Experience in laboratory work a strong plus. Laboratory experience in school may be used to satisfy this requirement. A demonstrated ability and desire to work in a laboratory setting is a strong plus.
